Walt Deriso serves as Chief Executive Officer of The Family Office at Synovus. He is responsible for overseeing The Family Office’s overall strategy, client service and growth initiatives. Walt brings a keen awareness and forward-thinking approach to integrated family wealth management, setting the standards for delivering and refining advisory and family office services to ultra-high-net-worth clients. His invaluable experience in the wealth management and banking industries has contributed to the success of The Family Office.

With over 25 years of experience serving multi-generational families, single family offices, and family businesses, Walt has expertise in startup formation, capital raising, early-stage development, growth, and mergers and acquisitions. Before assuming his current role, Walt served as Director of Strategic Growth and Family Office Solutions, overseeing the firm’s family office advisors and working alongside multi-generational families and their single family offices. In addition, he was responsible for developing the firm’s strategic growth initiatives and cultivating relationships with families and their advisors.

Walt began his career at The Family Office in 1999 where he served as the Director of Relationship Management. Before rejoining The Family Office in 2022, he was a founding shareholder at Atlantic Capital Bank for over 16 years where he served first as Senior Vice President of Private Financial Services and lastly as the Head of Family Office Banking.

Walt is a member of the Family Office Exchange and serves on The UHNW Institute Leaders Council. He earned a B.A. from Vanderbilt University and an M.B.A. from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business.

Walt currently serves as chair of the board of trustees at the Collective Learning Academy and alum of Leadership Atlanta. He is a past president of The Westminster Schools Catbackers and a past president of Buckhead Baseball, where he continues to serve as Buddy Baseball commissioner. Walt recently served on the transition team for Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickins and was a long-time member of the board of trustees of the Marcus Autism Center.

Walt and his wife, Anna, have two sons, Walt and Henry and live in Atlanta, GA.
