As Chief Investment Officer, Mike Sluder spearheads The Family Office at Synovus’ overall investment strategy. He is a member of The Family Office leadership team and serves as chair of the firm’s Investment Committee. Mike is responsible for overseeing all investment matters including setting policy, establishing processes, conducting due diligence, manager selection and monitoring, and risk management.

Mike’s passion for intellectual stimulation and problem-solving is demonstrated by his strategic thinking and thoroughness, enhancing our investment offerings and client experience. As the head of our accomplished group of investment specialists, Mike values each team member’s ideas and encourages suggestions for new and innovative approaches. He most enjoys working with ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and single family offices because of the intricacies and inspiration behind their personal stories, specific investment objectives, and purposeful wealth planning. Mike firmly believes in creating investment solutions, not products, to deliver a highly customized strategy that meets each client’s goals.

Before joining The Family Office at Synovus in 2006, Mike worked at a single family office where he gained valuable experience in alternative investments, real estate, multi-generational trusts, and a deep understanding of how families work. Prior to that, he served as a junior bond trader at SouthTrust Bank and worked in credit administration. As a bond trader, he identified fixed income investment opportunities for small banks, corporations, pension plans, and institutions.

Mike has a Master’s in Economics and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Alabama and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation. He is a member of The Ultra High Net Worth Institute and serves as a faculty member of the organization’s financial and investment management domain. In addition, Mike serves on a few limited partner advisor committees and is a frequent speaker on the benefits of alternative investments. He is also a member of the Atlanta Society of Financial Analysts.
