As President of The Family Office at Synovus, Hamilton Hilsman oversees client service activities, leading collaborative efforts to plan, develop and implement strategies that deliver outstanding family wealth management advice and services in support of family enterprises. Hamilton’s strategic insight and invaluable experience working with multi-generational families and single family offices have contributed to the success and growth of The Family Office.

Hamilton has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Before assuming his current role, Hamilton was a Lead Family Office Advisor and Director of the Bradley Family Office, a single family office representing 167 members of the founding family of Synovus, a 139-year-old family business. In this role, he served as the liaison between the family members and The Family Office and was responsible for providing the family with financial and estate planning, investment strategies, family governance, and charitable giving support. In addition, Hamilton managed a team of family office advisors dedicated to serving the short-term needs and long-term objectives of multi-generational families and their family offices. Prior to joining The Family Office in 2004, he served as Vice President, Commercial Lender for Synovus Financial Corp., and Vice President, Relationship Manager for SunTrust Private Client Group.

A frequent speaker in the family office industry, Hamilton has lent his expertise on topics related to multi-generational families and single family offices. He is a member of the Family Office Exchange and The UHNW Institute. In addition, he is a recipient of the Synovus James Yancey Customer Covenant Award. Hamilton has an M.B.A. and a B.A. in History from the University of Georgia.

Hamilton is actively involved in the Columbus, Georgia community. He is the current chair of the Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation and a board member of the 1909 Preservation Society. Past commitments include board and finance committee member at the Country Club of Columbus, chair and board member for Young Life of Columbus, board member and treasurer for Peach Little League, and board member for the UGA Terry College of Business and House of Heroes.

Hamilton and his wife, Meika have two sons, Joe and Nate and live in Columbus, Georgia.
