Catherine Wiegand

Cathy partners with Family Office Relationship Managers and clients’ accountants and attorneys to create estate plans that meet the family’s goals and maximize tax efficiency. Cathy also works with the next generation to educate them about their family’s trusts and estate plans.

Prior to joining Synovus in 2014, she interned at the Georgia Governor’s Office of Consumer Protection, the Atlanta United States Attorney’s Office Financial Crimes Division, and the United States Department of Commerce.

Cathy graduated cum laude with a J.D. from the University of Georgia, School of Law, and is licensed to practice law in Georgia. Additionally, she graduated summa cum laude with a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Georgia, Terry College of Business.

While at the University of Georgia School of Law she was honored with the Verner F. Chaffin Award for Excellence in the Study of Fiduciary Law. Cathy is active in the local community as a member of Leadership Columbus, Young Professionals, Columbus Estate Planning Council, the Fiduciary Section of the State Bar of Georgia, and the American Bar Association.
