Blake Melton is a Senior Wealth Strategist at The Family Office at Synovus. As a member of the Wealth Strategies group, Blake provides tax and estate planning guidance and advice to multi-generational families. His responsibilities include reviewing, implementing, and monitoring estate plans and ensuring tax efficiency. Blake collaborates with our Family Office Advisors and works closely with the family and their advisors, including attorneys and accountants, to create integrated family wealth plans designed to achieve the family’s goals and objectives.

Blake has over 15 years of experience in tax and estate law. Prior to joining The Family Office team in 2007, he practiced law as an Associate at Page, Scrantom, Sprouse, Tucker, and Ford in Columbus, Georgia. 

A frequent speaker on Georgia tax law, Blake presents at the Georgia State Bar’s fiduciary conferences and local estate planning counsels. Blake is a Fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and a past Chairperson of the Fiduciary Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. Since 2015, he has served on the Fiduciary Law Section’s Code Revision and Legislative Committees, where he has played a central role in drafting of numerous key statutes in the Georgia Trust Code as well as Georgia’s Power of Attorney Act. 

Blake earned his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude, his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he graduated cum laude, and his B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  

Blake’s passion for hiking, running and mountain biking is shared through his community involvement. Since 2018, he has focused all his efforts on Standing Boy, Inc. (SBI), a nonprofit of which he is the founder and chair.
